Colts release veteran LB D’Qwell Jackson

IndyStar.com called it the “first move of consequence” by new general manager Chris Ballard, hired last week, as he tries to make over one of the NFL’s oldest defenses.

It didn’t help Jackson that he was suspended the final four games of the 2016 season under the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy. Still, he finished with 78 total tackles, only one behind team leader Mike Adams despite the suspension.

He led the Colts in tackles his first two seasons with the team, recording 140 (82 unassisted) in 2014 and 150 (89) in 2015.

Releasing him, IndyStar.com noted, leaves the Colts with little proven talent at inside linebacker.

Belichick is on the list of witnesses for the defense, according to documents obtained by the Boston Globe.

Hernandez, a former tight end with the Patriots, pleaded not guilty to shooting and killing two men on July 16, 2012. The 27-year-old Hernandez is already serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.

Belichick was also on a list of witnesses for the Lloyd murder trial, but wasn’t called to the stand. Patriots owner Robert Kraft testified in that trial.

Hernandez’s former University of Florida teammate, Dolphins center Mike Pouncey, is Cheap Ireland Soccer Jerseys also on the defense’s list of witnesses.

Hernandez played with the Patriots from 2010-12. He was released when he was arrested for his involvement in Lloyd’s murder.
